How to Recover Money Sent to the Wrong UPI Account

 Follow this guide, Step 1: 

Keep Proof of Transaction the first and most critical step is to keep solid evidence of your transaction.

 Save the payment receipt or take a screenshot of the transaction confirmation screen. 

Note down the Transaction ID, UTR Number, date, and the amount transferred. Having this information ready is essential for the resolution process and will be required by support or authorities involved.

Step 2: Contact the customer care service of your UPI payment app Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM UPI

When you reach out, clearly explain your problem and provide all the transaction details collected in Step 1. 

Customer support will guide you through their process for dispute resolution.

Step 3: Results from Support Team after submitting your complaint and transaction details, the support team will verify your case. 

If everything checks out, they will raise a reversal request with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).

 If the submitted proof is clear and the mistake was genuine, your money can be refunded.

Step 4: Complain to NPCI  if customer care cannot resolve your issue, escalate your complaint to NPCI via their Dispute Redressal Mechanism at npci.org.in.

 Fill out the online form with your Transaction ID, UTR, the transferred amount, and both sender and receiver UPI IDs. 

This step ensures your complaint is investigated by the apex authority

Step 5: NPCI Investigation will contact the respective bank and initiate a thorough investigation. 

If they find that the transfer was indeed a mistake, they will instruct the bank to return the money to the sender.
